Lackluster. In the dictionary, the term ‘lackluster’ is defined as “lacking in vitality, force, or conviction; uninspired or uninspiring”. If Webster’s ever decided to put a photo with the definition, they should put a 2015-16 team photo of the New Orleans Pelicans, right beside it.

Statistically, on offense, the Pelicans did not shoot the ball bad but the lack of defense, lack of ball movement and turnovers hurt them.

New Orleans finished the game with 20 assists in comparison Philadelphia’s 31 and committed and 17 turnovers that led to 19 points for the 76ers. Philadelphia also edged New Orleans in points in the paint, 40-36.

Dante Cunningham led the Pelicans in scoring, tying his season high with 19 points.

The 76ers, who earned just their 10th victory of the season and came in averaging 97 points per game, scored 107 points, shot 46 percent off 40-of-88 shooting from the floor, 38 percent (13-of-34) from three-point range and 82 percent (14-of-17) from the charity stripe.

Despite being outrebounded in the contest, the 76ers committed fewer turnovers than the Pelicans and destroyed New Orleans in fast break points (16-2).

Carl Landry led the 76ers in scoring with 22 points off 9-of-10 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from three-point range in 26 minutes. Five other 76ers finished in double figures.

Isaiah Canaan finished with 16 points, Nik Stauskas and Hollis Thompson combining for 26 points, Robert Covington finished 12 points while Jerami Grant finished with 10 points.

Facing a 15-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter, the Pelicans failed to move the ball effectively, score efficiently and lacked energy defensively.

In a word, their performance was uninspiring, or “lackluster”.
