Tulane: Rob Kelley faces battery, robbery charges

Tulane running back Rob Kelley has been suspended after being charged with simple battery and simple robbery after authorities say he struck another student and took his bicycle.
The Times-Picayune reported that Kelley, 21, was arrested Aug. 4 and posted a $10,000 bond at a court appearance that day.
“It was never Kelley’s intent to either harm the alleged victim or deprive him of his proper,” Kelley’s attorney, Scott R. Bickford said in a statement.
The New Orleans native has been away from the program due to academic issues and the school issued a statement Monday nights saying the senior has been suspended from the team.
Kelly has made 6 starts in 38 games with Tulane, rushing for 1,038 yards on 253 carries.
