2.  Fundamentally Sound

Head coach Sean Payton is a stickler for detail so therefore expects that from his staff and players as well.

He stresses quite frequently about getting back to the fundamentals whether it’s your technique as a defensive back, routes as a receiver, tackling on defense, or knowing the protections on offense.

Some may feel that the big mistakes are what causes the cracks in the armor to start and then eventually leads to things falling apart.

But yank a small spark plug out of an automobile and it becomes a huge hunk of steel with no life.

Remove a tiny gear from a watch and it will cease to keep time and becomes useless.

The same applies to fundamentals if you forget your protection assignment, how to tackle, how to watch film, or how to take care of your body after practice then you’re hurting the team.

It’s all about the little details that will matter for the Saints.
