By Scotty Nola
In what is turning into a draft tradition this year another LSU defender was selected by a team with a defensive minded head coach. In another tradition for this years draft the team is a rival of our local Saints.
Kwon Alexander checks both boxes going to Tampa Bay in the NFC South where he will play under Tampa Bay Head Coach Lovie Smith.

Lovie Smith has been associated with some of the great defenses in the NFL over the last 20 years.
As an assistant under Tony Dungy with Tampa Bay in the 90’s he coached a linebacking unit that turned Derrick Brooks and Hardy Nickerson into stars.
He got a head coaching opportunity with the Chicago Bears and over his tenure was known for producing great defensive units led by linebackers Brian Urlacher.
If you’re Kwon Alexander you have to feel great about the situation you are stepping into.

There is no head coach in the NFL with a better track record of developing talent at the LB position than Lovie Smith.
Kwon Alexander is the kind of fast athletic hard hitting linebacker that has been a signature player on great defense after great defense under Lovie Smith.
LSU fans saw greatness in Kwon Alexander at times in his LSU career. They can look forward to seeing that talent developed by one of the best in the business in Tampa Bay….
