Nobody knows if Jeff Van Gundy will ever coach again except Jeff Van Gundy.
Time and time again, his name has come up for coaching positions only to be shot down.
The current ESPN broadcaster is on these lists all the time simply because he knows what he is doing. In nine out of his eleven seasons as a head coach, he made the playoffs.
He has great knowledge of the game and displays it as a broadcaster.
Steve Kerr showed that the transition from the booth to the bench does not have to be as gruesome as some may think.
Like Calipari, Van Gundy may be happy as a broadcaster and not want to leave that job.
However, New Orleans has a bright young star in Davis and a media market that would not be too overwhelming.
If he ever wants to coach again, manning the Pelicans bench would be his best chance to succeed at doing so……..
