Saints Fans Shouldn’t Overreact To Browner’s “Seattle Reunion” Comments
New Orleans Saints cornerback Brandon Browner is known for being a vocal leader on the field and in the locker room.
It’s one of the reasons that incited the Saints in heavily recruiting him in coming to New Orleans to help rebuild the secondary and provide direction.
According to a report by CBSSports.com writer Sean Wagner-McGough, Browner was a little vocal about something Saints fans might not be too thrilled about.
In an interview Browner mentioned that once his contract is up in New Orleans, he’d like to possibly return to the Seattle Seahawks.

That’s like telling people if you and your spouse split up that you hope to get back with your ex.
Well for Who Dats, Browner’s comments might be worse because if it’s one thing they are huge on is current players being loyal to the team.
On second thought, you better be loyal to everything New Orleans and not even insult the music otherwise you’ll be on the receiving end of a serious social media backlash — just ask safety Rafael Bush after he scorned Trombone Shorty.
Heck, even quarterback Drew Brees has drawn the ire of fans who thought he was being too greedy in not restructuring his contract to aid in salary cap relief for the Saints.

And heaven help a player who leaves under conditions that Saints fans feel is spurning the team because you’ll quickly see a social media post that reads, “_________ is dead to me”.
Hey it’s what makes New Orleans such an interesting place to play for because on the flip side of all that, you’re family and the fans will scream their hearts out for you and heap loads of support and genuine love your way.

That brings me back to the Browner comments which in all honesty Saints fans shouldn’t take to heart too much.
Yes I understand, Browner no longer plays for the Seahawks and his loyalty should be to his current team the Saints.
But also in the article, the interview Browner made the comments in was done at a charity softball game hosted by former Seahawks teammate Richard Sherman — in Seattle.
Granted Browner would have been better off saying something along the lines of, “I’m with the Saints now and nobody knows what the future holds etc. etc.”
But he was likely, as Wagner-McGough mentioned, simply playing to the crowd that used to cheer him on as a Seahawk.

To be fair, the Seahawks gave Browner his first legitimate shot at an NFL career after he went undrafted in 2005 and then spent from 2006 to 2011 playing in the Canadian Football League.
In fact Browner can be credited with making NFL teams scout the CFL a little harder after being signed by the Seahawks in 2011 where he had a dominant season.

Although the Seahawks remained a backbreaking defense after Browner left in 2014, his presence was definitely missed that season as he lined up for the New England Patriots.
Browner saying that he thinks that a return to Seattle might be possible is probably a mix of being around the home crowd and also a bit of posturing.
Besides, it will be 2018 before he’s a free agent again which is too far away to be worried about now.
So Saints fans shouldn’t worry too much about the comments Browner made because in the end he’s a professional and will be ready to play in the Black and Gold on GameDay…….
