Hey remember Al Woods?

No?

Well Woods may be responsible for the current draft drought of players from L.S.U. that Saints fans are always complaining about and goes down as one of the top draft misses in the Sean Payton era.

Ok maybe not totally responsible but he didn’t help matters and that’s for sure.

Woods was selected by the Saints in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft after trading up from the 130th spot to the #123 to select what was hoped to be a huge run stopper.

But he wouldn’t even make it past September and was released after head coach Sean Payton told NOLA.com, “He did some things on a positive note that were encouraging and yet ultimately we didn’t feel confident enough with where he was at right now and we went a different direction.”

Perhaps its unfair to heap all the blame on Woods since there were questions leading up to the draft concerning his work ethic and maturity which would explain his quick exit in 2010.

Following his release from the Saints, Woods has been with the Pittsburgh Steelers for two stints(2010, 2011-2013), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, and finally the Titans.

For his career Woods has only 64 combined tackles and 3.5 sacks which most of that came from the past two seasons where he has been active for all 32 games and started three of those.

The Titans will travel to New Orleans on November 8th to face the Saints for a 12:00 p.m. CST game.
