Les Miles likes to play Freshmen. It helps recruiting because players know they can come in and compete for reps right away and it helps fill in all of those losses to the NFL every year. In spite of returning an unusual amount of depth this year will be no different.

Arden Key is going to play a lot this fall. Billed as the next Barkevious Mingo or Danielle Hunter on the defensive front he already looks the part and is already getting first team reps. Fellow frosh Isiah Washington is right there with him at Defensive End.

Donte Jackson isn’t just fast, he’s football fast.

He made national news when he ran a hand timed 4.24 40 during testing. He is living up to the hype in practices, blowing by NFL prospects on multiple occasions so far.

Kevin Toliver and Xavier Lewis have also been getting reps with the veterans, as has freshmen Offensive Lineman Maea Teuhema. Once the coaches settle on a position for Teuhama he will be a top reserve and the rest should see plenty of game time as rotation guys and special teamers.

This will be a typical year for LSU with true freshmen hearing their numbers called in games early and often.
