Tight End Josh Hill

Now I’m not saying that Hill is in danger of being cut, but his #2 status at the tight end group could be in jeopardy.

Prior to 2015 the only thing that stood in the way of Hill becoming the second tight end was Jimmy Graham, but now he’s beating himself out.

Reports from training camp from local beat writers have said that his showing at camp has been anything but being worthy of backing up likely starter Benjamin Watson.

At some points Hill has almost seemed an afterthought in media notes after getting much praise from head coach Sean Payton to start the offseason following the trade of Graham.

Hill has been targeted only a handful of times compared to former practice squad player Orson Charles and even new addition Kevin Brock.

The issue is that during those times Hill is thrown to he’s dropped them, including a potential touchdown pass in a recent practice.

We’ve seen Hill make catches in crucial moments and scored five touchdowns last year with two coming in the same game against the Chicago Bears.

Hill isn’t a terrible tight end but even I didn’t buy into the notion that he could come along and become the difference maker on offense at his position.

To regain his #2 position as well as beat back Charles, Brock, and Alex Smith, Hill needs to show the drops he had in camp were a fluke and not the norm.
