Warren was proving to be the diamond in the rough last year but now the defensive back jumps seems to be in the rough…or maybe witness protection.
Little to nothing has been said about the sophomore safety that shined last year except people asking where he’s been.
Well it looks like he’s mainly been with the third string defense during training camp and that’s not good.
Warren was a pleasant surprise last year and looked like he could potentially be a ball hawking safety that they could use.
But even a good preseason and training camp last year couldn’t save him and he was released, much to the surprise of even the local media who thought he was a lock.
The Saints thought enough of Warren to bring him back after injuries ravaged their secondary and he rewarded them with a forced fumble to save a touchdown on his first game back and two interceptions in one game against the Chicago Bears.
But it seems that veteran Kenny Phillips, who is trying to make a comeback in his career, is ahead of Warren on the depth chart.
While there is no way that anyone will unseat current backup Rafael Bush, Warren needs to have a better preseason than he did last year to obtain a spot on the roster.
