-Rookie quarterback Garrett Grayson only threw for 87 yards and was 8-12 on completions but he showed poise and looked comfortable in the pocket.

He had some nice zip on his passes and he has the ability to scramble, gaining 15 yards on two runs which actually ties running back Mark Ingram’s yardage for the night.

Grayson may not be ready to take over for veteran signal caller Drew Brees but the future is looking real good.

-Ryan Griffin was a player I said yesterday needed to have a strong preseason to climb the crowded quarterback depth chart and he started things off right.

He completed 10 of 17 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown, leading all three quarterbacks that played last night.

With head coach Sean Payton’s decision to hold Brees out(I expect he’ll play against the New England Patriots) it likely means more playing time in the preseason for Griffin which he needs.

-Luke McCown didn’t do too well last night and looked uncomfortable in the pocket after getting the starting nod with some passes sailing and others dropping low.

Although McCown had a touchdown and 75 yards, that came off of a 28 yard blazing catch and run by Brandin Cooks.
