Kenny Hilliard was the primary backup at LSU behind Leonard Fournette last year. That experience may have been humbling, but it probably prepared him for going into camp with a Texans team led on offense by star running back Arian Foster.

Earning a starting role has never been on the table, but Kenny Hilliard has the ability to make a contribution as a backup so the Texans were a good situation for him.

That situation just got better when Arian Foster went down with a bad groin injury. Alfred Blue, another LSU Tiger now has the starting role, and the backups are suddenly getting a lot more scrutiny in Houston.

The Texans website is taking notice of the way Kenny Hilliard finishes every run in practice.

The Houston Chronicle has some pics of Hilliard posted, including one getting some blocking work against the Texans linebackers and this one showing him taking a kickoff.

If you aren’t starting you need to contribute on special teams to make the roster so this work is a good sign.
