Middle LB Kendell Beckwith is the QB of the defense.
He makes the calls and at line adjustments before the snap, and he takes responsibility for everything over the middle of the field after the snap.
Kendell Beckwith doesn’t need to win the Butkus award this year. He doesn’t need to stack up big plays every game, making the ESPN highlights with sacks, fumbles, and big hits.
He just needs to show up and do his job. For him steady and solid is perfect.
There’s a reason just showing up and filling his role is so critical for Kendell Beckwith: he has no one behind him. LSU is suffering for depth everywhere on the defensive front seven, but no where is the lack of experienced backups more apparent than the MLB position.
Without a solid backup Kendell Beckwith can’t afford to miss time for anything.
He needs to stay healthy and dress for every game, and line up for every defensive snap the Tigers take this year.
If he misses significant time it could disrupt everything new coordinator Kevin Steele is trying to implement on the field…..
