No it’s not another product endorsement for Drew Brees, I’m talking about his core strength being back to what it was.
We’ve seen flashes of what caused problems for the Saints last season be revealed much like a soap opera and last night was no different.
Brees told ESPN’s Ed Werder that the reason behind his struggles last season was due to an oblique injury he suffered in training camp.
This limited his core strength that he said is vital to be able to throw the ball effectively and admitted that he was also dealing with another injury at the time, but declined to elaborate any further.
Ironically the debate on the declining arm strength for Brees was settled not only with that revelation but also he made it clear that in throwing a football, your core strength is more important than just having a strong arm.

Bree said he also worked with throwing coach Tom House to improve his throwing mechanics and correct some bad habits he had developed in order to compensate for the injuries.
We all saw Brees along with some other Saints players training during the offseason using paddle boarding as a training method.

If you brushed it off as just an excuse for them to justify a nice vacation, paddle boarding requires an huge amount of core strength to maintain your balance on the board while moving through the water.
So for all the national media members, as Payton would say, “Next question”…and next splash report.
And to heir apparent Garrett Grayson, just relax — #9 isn’t poised to give up the throne just yet…..
