Davon Godchaux Needs To Set the Tone

Good LSU defenses have outstanding defensive lines. Great LSU defenses have outstanding defensive lines led by game changing defensive tackles. Think Chad Lavalais and Kyle Williams in 2003. Glenn Dorsey in 2007. Logan and Brockers in 2011.

Christian LaCouture Tashawn Bower and Lewis Neal are all very good players. For the defense to take over games they need someone to step up and be the kind of disrupting force that breaks the pocket on passing plays and makes running backs veer for the sideline.

Davon Godchaux has that kind of talent. He has shown in flashes that he can be a one man wrecking crew when he is on. Now he needs to show an ability to do it consistently, and be the kind of force in the middle that lets the rest of the defense take full advantage of their speed and athleticism to make plays.

If Davon Godchaux can consistently break into the opposing backfield on defense this will show he is ready to set the tone for the Tigers up front all year long.
