The coaches have been saying all along they wanted to get freshman Donte Jackson involved in spite of the log jam ahead of him at Wide Receiver.
Tonight, in a very short sample they delivered.
Jackson took the opening kickoff out for a 22 yard return from the end zone.
Not spectacular — but positive yardage.
He also got into the passing game, catching a short pitch but gaining only four yards after failing to break a tackle.
More time in the weight room will help, but the talent is clearly there.
