The Obvious

-Mark Ingram, C.J. Spiller, and Khiry Robinson were always the undeniable three-headed hydra of the running back corps and make coaches like Sean Payton salivate even though it seems he has more of a panache for the passing game.

-In a rare Halley’s Comet moment following the New England Patriots game, Payton foreshadowed running back Marcus Murphy’s spot on the roster by saying…well pretty much that he was making the roster.

-Fullback Austin Johnson was always the clear frontrunner for the job although Toben Opurum seemed as if he could give him a run after receiving more playing time and doing an adequate job, but for now get ready to see that jet-black hipster hair and beard of Johnson on game-day.

-Tim Hightower made a successful comeback and with the injuries at running back(Spiller and Robinson), this wasn’t much of a shocker since in previous seasons the Saints have kept five running backs on the roster…smart move.

The Curious

-Really nothing too curious here except what Hightower’s role will be on game-day if Spiller and Robinson are both healthy.

Yes he can be a special teams contributor but he didn’t grade out very well especially on kickoffs during the preseason.
