Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

The Obvious

-The “Three C’s”(Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks, Brandon Coleman) and Willie Snead were the hands down winners in the receiver race.

Coleman looks to be molded into a future Colston while “Lance Moore 2.0” Snead worked himself onto the roster after entering OTA’s as a maybe which turned into a “they can’t let him go.”

-There was no doubt that when Jimmy Graham left and the Saints didn’t take a tight end in the draft that Benjamin Watson and Josh Hill would be on the final roster, although Hill did have his ups and downs combined with some disappearing acts at practice and the preseason.

The Curious

-Only four wide receivers is a bit of a head scratcher considering the past six seasons the Saints have had at least five if not six on the roster.

After the announced release of Josh Morgan, you’d have figured Joe Morgan would make the cut although his performance was inconsistent as the coaching staff tried to make him more than just a deep threat.

Payton has shown a fatherly bond with Joe and his time with the team may not be done just yet.

-The Saints only kept two tight ends and just as with the receivers, I checked back the past six seasons and they have kept at least three…odd.

Odd considering if Watson or Hill go down that would leave them with one viable tight end on the roster.

Orson Charles was let go and I thought he’d be the third tight end but he still needs to serve a one-game suspension and there could be other options out there(Saints fans are calling for ex-Detroit Lion Joseph Fauria).
