The Obvious

-With the overhaul at the linebacker position you knew who was going to make it with a group spearheaded by first round pick Stephone Anthony and second rounder Hau’oli Kikaha.

-An obvious observation is that this group is still a mystery with Anthony not getting much buzz, David Hawthorne still being David Hawthorne, and the injury status of Dannell Ellerbe and Ramon Humber still up in the air.

-Davis Tull got the Rob Ninkovich comparison, tongue in cheek mind you, after he was drafted in the fifth round but his speed is evident and considering the limited playing time he got, he looks to be on the rise quickly in the defensive rotation.

-The addition of Michael Mauti to the linebacking corps as well as the special teams unit is a big plus, he’s a guy who doesn’t mind mixing it up and getting physical.

The Curious

-One name who I was shocked to see on the cuts list was Henry Coley considering that he graded out better than even Anthony, who I know is not going anywhere.

Even more shocking was when Nick Underhill of The Advocate reported yesterday that the Saints weren’t expected to being him back even on the practice squad…confusing as well as curious.
