After hearing so much about the talented freshman it was great to see him in action, and Tolliver did not disappoint.
Most guys wear underwear less snug that Toliver’s coverage for much of the game. He was all over Mississippi State’s receivers, absolutely blanketing them. This guy looks like a star in the making.
The other members of the real DBU crew were equally impressive in the first half, completely shutting Dak Prescott and the Mississippi State passing game down.
Cause For Concern: Prescott was able to Throw at Will Late in the Game
Dak Prescott caught fire in the second half. There were a lot of reasons. LSU’s pass rushers appeared to be tired and stopped getting any kind of rush. There were some missed communications that left receivers open. And Dak Prescott is Dak Prescott.
Still, LSU left far too much open late in the game and Mississippi State gouged them for three touchdown drives that were mostly accomplished through the air.
Dak Prescott threw for over 300 yards against LSU’s defense, much of it in two fourth quarter scoring drives. He is a great QB but DBU needs to make big plays to keep their reputation. LSU can’t afford to keep throwing up goose eggs in the turnover department and count on missed field goals.
