Optimism
-Brees looked like his old self out there humming the ball and completed 30 passes out of 48 attempts for 355 yards and one touchdown.
The oblique injury as well as the other “mystery injury” that plagued him during the 2014 season seemed to have been something that is no more as he had some renewed zip on his throws.
He and running back Mark Ingram were in sync on the receiving game where it totaled up to 98 yards so it’ll be exciting to see what happens when C.J. Spiller returns.
I saw someone joking yesterday that maybe he was putting “too much heat” on some of his passes.
Concern
-This is one of the first times I think I’ve seen Brees have almost no consistent chemistry with his receivers and hopefully the kinks are worked out before the meat of the season.
-I expected him to have at least 2-3 touchdown passes in the game although Arizona has a pretty good secondary….yeah he’s missing Jimmy Graham in the redzone.
-You have an elite quarterback yet you have him throwing bubble screens constantly…confusing.
-I guess this is directed more at head coach Sean Payton, but on the decision to punt on 4th and 6 wouldn’t you want the ball in the hands of your future Hall of Fame quarterback?
