According to recruiting gurus Arden Key was always the highest profile recruit for LSU Defensive Line Coach Ed Orgeron this year, but LSU coaches have talked up fellow frosh DE Isaiah Washington as being very close to Key in talent.
This is a big deal on two accounts. First off, if you have watched the Tigers play you have surely noticed that Arden Key is a tremendous talent.
Unfortunately, you have probably also noticed that the talent behind Key and fellow Tigers DE’s Tashawn Bower and Lewis Neal is very thin.
When the defense stays on the field too long the Ends wear down and there hasn’t been anyone available to spell them. Injuries make things even worse. When Tashawn Bower was out during the second half against Syracuse NEal and Key visibly wore down.
This is where Isaiah Washington comes in. He has been rehabbing an injury so far, but is now listed as available for the first time this season.
A healthy Washington taking reps during games can help the top 3 at DE stay fresh during games and provide the Tigers with some much needed injury insurance.
