4 Reasons LSU Couldn’t Keep Up With Alabama

The loss to Alabama Saturday night was the most disappointing game for the Tigers since the loss to another Saban coached Alabama team in the 2012 National Championship game.
Since that earlier loss the two programs have been on very different paths. LSU has continued to produce NFL talent at a record pace but failed to put it all together on the field for a championship season.
Alabama has come under increasing criticism for their players lack of success on the next level while stringing together dominant collegiate seasons.
This was supposed to be the game that changed the tune for the Tigers. Many thought a dominant run game led by Heisman hopeful Leonard Fournette and a surprisingly good defense were the right mix for a defeat of Alabama.
It was not to be. Alabama took over the game early and in spite of a charge by LSU in the second quarter they were able to completely dominate the second half while cruising to an easy win over the dispirited Tigers.
After some reflection it’s obvious which major issues led to a blowout loss in what should have been a hotly contested game.
