Promoting From Within: Ed Orgeron

Ed Orgeron is one of the top recruiters in the country and a legendary position coach. He is a veteran of powerhouse programs like Miami and USC before coming to LSU and he has head coaching experience.

Orgeron wants another shot at a head coaching job and as a Louisiana native LSU would have to be an extremely attractive post.

He has not proven he can win at a top-level so he is a risk, but he has proven he can recruit athletes and he has tremendous contacts in the coaching world so he can certainly fill out a staff.

Other Internal Candidates:

There really aren’t any at this point. Cam Cameron has college head coaching experience but if Les Miles is fired Cameron will be a big part of the reason why and won’t be considered.

Other LSU staffers have head coaching ambitions but they are too unproven to be considered for a top 10 coaching vacancy like this.
