Coming off the heartbreaking loss against the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday, which honestly was fitting for the ‘lost’ season the Saints are having, its fair to say that there is a lot more doom than gloom around the city of New Orleans right now.

A lot of times in the sports world, when you’re favorite team is not playing at a high level, the only thing that can make you somewhat feel better is thinking about the future.

Needless to say, a lot of Saints fans, including myself, are looking toward the future and what could happen next season and on. Saints fans have gotten very accustom to this the past few years with 3 out of the last 4 seasons being disappointing.

One thing most Saints fans are especially looking forward to right now is the 2016 NFL Draft. With this past draft being a success so far, and being one of the better drafts in a long time for the Saints, fans have reason to be excited.

More from Big Easy Believer

This past offseason the Saints hired former Miami General Manager, Jeff Ireland, to be the head scout in the college department.

With one draft down it looks like that may have been a successful hire with multiple rookies playing a lot of time for the Saints, and not doing to bad of a job. Stephone Anthony, Hau’oli Kikaha, Damian Swann, and Bobby Richardson are some of the rookies who have come in this year and played significant time.

I decided to look forward to the draft and look at what options are out there for the Saints. Using Fanspeak’s “On The Clock” mock draft simulator, I did a mock draft for the Saints picking their 6 picks they currently hold in the draft(one in each round excluding round 6) The Saints are currently slated to pick 8th overall. They do not have a 6th round pick having dealt it in a trade last year.
