Any Quarterback

Last year in the 3rd round of the draft, the Saints drafted Garret Grayson out of Colorado State to sit behind future Hall of Famer Drew Brees and hopefully one day develop into a starting quarterback.

Coach Sean Payton chose Grayson personally, even chartering the Saints team private jet to fly out to Colorado and watch him work out, just days before the draft. He was really impressed with him during that workout; and with the Saints having an abundance of picks last year, they were able to use one on a developmental quarterback.

When Payton’s future was in doubt, I could have seen another coach coming in and not being as “in love” with Grayson; and wanted to draft “his” quarterback this year.

But that isn’t the case. Payton got his guy last year, and if the Saints were to draft another quarterback a year later, that would not speak well for Grayson’s development.

With Drew Brees getting older, and his huge contract, over the next few months I’m sure there will be people out there having the Saints draft a quarterback. In my opinion that simply is not an option, if they’re looking to get Brees another ring before he retires.

At this time now this year, the Saints don’t have a lot of extra picks, having only 6 currently barring any trades.

And with the Saints having holes at what seems like almost every position on the roster, the Saints need to use the picks they do have at positions of “need”, and not a position where they currently have a future Hall of Famer starting presumably for another 3 to 4 years, at the very least.

With the Saints needing to do everything they possibly can to get better and not worse, they can not afford to draft player that can hurt them. Those are 3 players who in my opinion the Saints SHOULD NOT draft in the 2016 NFL Draft….
