GARRETT GRAYSON ISN’T THE NEXT DREW BREES, BUT AT LEAST HE’S NOT THE NEXT HEATH SHULER

Garrett Grayson’s journey as a New Orleans Saint has not been the easiest.

After being the 75th overall pick in 2015, and the highest quarterback selected by the Saints since 1971 NFL Draft #2 overall draft pick Archie Manning, Grayson couldn’t seem to find himself in his rookie campaign.

From awful practices, to reports of Payton lookig to get rid of him out throughout the off-season, it seemed like maybe Grayson just wasn’t “The Guy”.

Yet, going into his 1st Preseason game in Year Two last night, many recent reports had said that Grayson has had some of his best days in a Saints uniform over the last few weeks.

Lets be honest: he doesn’t look like the next Drew Brees, but Grayson did not put on a bad show.

He’s not going to be Danny Weurffel or Heath Shuler-bad. Or at least we hope not.

After the first pass Grayson threw (an ill-advised throw into tight coverage that went for a “Pick 6” to Patriots LB Jamie Collins), he appeared to settle into a groove with help from Michael Thomas, and a special teams providing a short field.

Grayson finished the day 10-16 for 133 yards, with 2 scoring drives and a 2 point conversation to his credit.

Now certainly it was not the most memorable of performances, but it really does show how far this kid has come since this time last year.

Though the question still remains: is he “The Successor”?
