Will That Dog Hunt?

UConn is coming off a 4-4 conference record last year that included an upset of the AAC conference champion Houston Cougars.

The Huskies offense returns 9 starters, but they were 124th last year in total yards per game.

All-purpose running back Arkeel Newsome leads the offense.  Newsome gained 1,686 all-purpose yards in 2015.

Huskies head coach Bob Diaco came to UConn from Notre Dame as a defensive guru, and his defense was able to live up to the hype in 2015. The Huskies were solid, giving up just 19.5 points per game, good for 15th overall in the nation.

Junior defensive tackle Foli Fatukasi is a disruptive force, leading the team with eight sacks and seven tackles for a loss.  Luke Carrezola at end/outside linebacker was another playmaker, with six sacks and 8.5 tackles for a loss.

These Huskies are for real, and as with Temple their defense is just too much for Fritz and the young Green Wave to handle.

LOSS, GREEN WAVE FINISHES 5-7 AND NARROWLY MISSES A BOWL BID
