Debut versus Demon Deacons

Despite back-to-back 3-9 seasons, 3rd-year coach Dave Clawson  is looking to yield some positive results and a possible bowl game . The Demon Deacons were  outgained by 113.6 yards per game in ACC play last year. Now Clawson has all of his players in place with 16 returning starters entering Year 3 of his systems.

Tight end Cam Serigne is one of the ACC’s best, with 100 grabs in his first two seasons. The Deamon Deacon offense was one of the nation’s worst in 2015, averaging 17.4 points per game, No. 119 nationally.

Quarterback John Wolford threw nine touchdowns against 11 interceptions last fall, which led to a minus-13 turnover margin. Wolford is being pushed for his job by Kendall Hinton, Coach Clawson hadn’t named a starter and is contemplating a QB rotation.

Defensively, the Demon Deacons return 8 starters.  The defense has been placed into  bad situations with a struggling offense over the last two years, yet held opponents to 24.6 points a game in 2015.
