LOCAL LOUISIANA FLAVOR

Quarterback Bobby Hebert, wide receiver Eric Martin and running back Dalton Hilliard were among the Saints best offensive players on those Mora Era teams. All of them were native Louisianans, and all of them first became stars in college within the state (Hebert at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La., and Martin and Hilliard at LSU).

Hebert, better known as “The Cajun Cannon” because of his South Louisiana heritage (Cut Off, La. in Lafourche Parish) was one of the most entertaining players in team history. The Saints had an extremely conservative game plan in those days; and any offensive success the team would have against an always tough and very underrated 49ers defense would often be because of herculean individual efforts by these 3 players.
