Nov 6, 2016; Santa Clara, CA, USA; New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (9) calls out before receiving a snap from center Max Unger (60) against the San Francisco 49ers during the second quarter at Levi

QUARTERBACK

Drew Brees certainly does not look like a 37-year old man nearing the end of his career.

Quite the contrary.

As we all know, Brees is the ultimate competitor, but #9 is playing with more decisiveness and confidence in the players around him than we have seen in quite some time. In this past Sunday’s game at San Francisco for instance, Brees time after time put passes on his receiver’s back shoulders, or gave them one on one opportunities to make plays in any situation.

With the exception of a couple subpar (for Brees) outings against the Giants and Chargers, Brees’ first half performance rates just short of outstanding; as he has completed 242 passes out of 347 attempts for 2,689 yards with 21 TD’s and 5 interceptions, with a QBR of 106.7. Brees is also completing 69.7% of his passes through the first 8 games as well.

The bottom line is that whem #9 is on the field, the Saints have a chance against anybody; and if this Saints team is in Playoff contention down the stretch, Brees should FINALLY be looked at as a legitimate League MVP candidate.
