LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

For what feels like an eternity, this team has been in “salary cap hell”.

Unwise free agent signings or hefty contract extensions to players who didn’t perform up to expectations, has left the Saints in a precarious enough position.

The subsequent release of many of these veterans left the team facing literally millions of dollars in “dead money”, essentially paying players who were no longer with the team.

FINALLY, some of these wasted contracts are now beginning to come off the books, and will allow New Orleans the cap space necessary to hopefully sign some of their current young stars to deserved long term deals to keep a talented nucleus intact.

Despite the Saints tight salary cap situation, the front office has always shown the ability to juggle the finances every year to bring in new players, regardless of how some of these players have produced.

That in and of itself, is something that Saints fans should really be thankful for.
