WINNER: Dennis Allen, Defensive Coordinator
Allen’s defensive unit actually played pretty well yesterday after a bit of a rough start. This despite missing safety Kenny Vaccaro (suspension) and linebacker Craig Robertson (injured) for the game, and cornerback Delvin Breaux going down hurt in the 3rd quarter.
The Saints limited star wideout Mike Evans to only 4 receptions for 42 yards, held Jameis Winston to less than 200 yards passing and contained the Bucs running game to only 104 yards.
New Orleans is still a few impact players shy of being considered as a top-end defense, but this squad has shown remarkable improvement over 2 months despite injuries and lack of depth.
The continued development and progression of this mostly young core group of players is most certainly something for Saints fans to be excited about entering the off-season.
