LOSER:  VONN BELL, FREE SAFETY

It’s almost not even fair to list Bell as a “loser” this week, given his continued growth and development with each pass game and bit of experience as well as the fact that he led the team in tackles yesterday with 9 (7 solo, 2 assisted) and even forced a fumble.

However, it’s still evident that Bell has a lot to learn before he can be “crowned” as the next NFL defensive superstar, as evidenced by the blown assignment in which he allowed Cardinals WR John Brown to get behind him for a 30-yard TD.

After the score, veteran CB B.W. Webb could be seen “counseling” the rookie Bell on not being where he was supposed to be in coverage on the play.

It’s just a part of the growing process for Bell, who in time looks to be potentially one of the best free safeties in the NFL and one of the key young “core players” for the Saints defense, heading into the future……
