ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: MICHAEL THOMAS, WIDE RECEIVER
This wasn’t a very hard choice this year. Especially not when the “rookie” plays like a 10-year NFL veteran.
Saints fans could very well have witnessed the next “superstar” wide-out in Thomas, a 2nd round pick from Ohio State.
The youngest of the Saints trio of “Young Guns” at wide receiver was also the best in 2016, finishing with a team leading 92 receptions for 1,137 yards and 9 touchdowns.
If not for the running back/quarterback duo in Dallas– Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott — Thomas would be a runaway choice for the NFL Rookie of the Year.
The 23 year old has a terrific work ethic, amazing hands, great size, good speed and the ability to run every route.
The future is bright for this future All-Pro — and perhaps he’ll have arrived just in the nick of time, to help Saints QB Drew Brees win one last World Title before he retires.
