The New Orleans Saints do not start the 2019 season with an easy game and instead have to host the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

Every NFL team wants to begin the season on the right foot with a 1-0 record and the best way to ensure that is to have an easy game in Week 1. The New Orleans Saints do not have that luxury in 2019.

This is why we see college teams always schedule cupcake games in their first week. Getting off to a 1-0 start opposed to playing a tough opponent and risking going 0-1 is huge. In college football, it might mean more because of rankings, but it is still big for NFL teams.

NFL teams don’t get to make their schedule, though, so instead the New Orleans Saints have to host a playoff team in the Houston Texans in Week 1. Heck, the first four opponents for the Saints this year are all playoff teams from a year ago.

But hey, on the positive side, maybe it will make the Saints more focused and give them a better start. Last year, they started with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the still bad Cleveland Browns and did not look good at all.

The Saints lost to Tampa Bay and nearly (and probably should have) lost to the Browns. After an OT win over the Falcons, the Saints were fine the rest of the year.

Anything can happen in football, we learn that every single week and we got a glimpse of that when the Green Bay Packers out-defended the Chicago Bears on Thursday. Here are our three bold predictions for this Week 1 matchup.
