The New Orleans Pelicans landed the NBA’s most coveted rookie of the last 15 years and Zion Williamson’s first season will prove to be electric.

The narrative was already set for Duke’s Zion Williamson to go to the New York Knicks. That is, until the lottery balls decided to bounce against the Knicks and instead bounce in the New Orleans Pelicans‘ favor, giving them the first overall pick and the absolute no-brainer of drafting Zion Williamson.

The Pelicans had a whopping six percent chance of snagging the first overall pick opposed to the Knicks, who had a 14 percent chance. In moving all the way up from seventh to first, the Pelicans got the perfect player to immediately replace Anthony Davis.

Williamson will not be as good as Davis is right now right away, but there is absolutely a chance that he is as good if not better than Davis. This is a once in a generation talent that very well could be the face of the NBA the next 15-20 years, as LeBron James is.

Zion has been touted as the unbustable player, although some analysts want to get ahead of the curve and express worry about his size and how it will hold up at the NBA level.

But still, in terms of sheer raw talent, Zion is about as sure of a thing that you can get out of a first overall draft pick. His rookie season is going to be absolutely electric and here are our three bold predictions for it.
