New Orleans Pelicans: Three bold predictions for Lonzo Ball in 2019
By Jason Reed
Lonzo Ball is one of several young players for the New Orleans Pelicans to get excited about as Ball will have a great first year in the Big Easy.
The New Orleans Pelicans got a trio of great young players in Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart in the Anthony Davis trade. Although they got outshined by Zion Williamson, these three are still a pivotal part of the Pelicans’ future.
Out of the three, the most notable (at least in terms of media coverage) is Lonzo Ball. Ball has become a household name in the NBA because of his father, who says outlandish things and has been given a platform to try and market not only his kids and his brand but himself.
While Big Baller Brand has been a bit of a bust, LaVar did a great job of actually marketing his kids. While Lonzo may have gotten some negative feedback from it, you definitely know who he is because of LaVar.
While that is a benefit that is working in Ball’s favor, it is a drawback as many outside fans that did not follow the Lakers closely think that he is nothing more than a media craze. Heck, there are probably still a good chunk of Pelicans fans out there that don’t quite know who exactly Lonzo Ball is.
But hey, that is just fine. It always is good to shatter low expectations with solid play and that is what Ball is trying to do in his first year in New Orleans. Here are three bold predictions for that first year.
