New Orleans Saints: Three reasons to be optimistic vs. Dallas Cowboys
By Jason Reed
1. Dak Prescott is the worst quarterback the Saints have faced
I already know that if there are any Cowboy fans reading this they are going to inform me to look at the first three weeks of the season and see how Dak Prescott has performed as well as the team’s record in those three games.
I will give it to Cowboy fans. Prescott has been good over the first three weeks and the Cowboys are 3-0 and are one of the best statistical teams in the league. But c’mon, they played Eli Manning and the terrible Giant defense, Case Keenum and the Washington Redskins, who have allowed 30 points every game and the JV Miami Dolphins.
At least 23 of the other 28 teams in the NFL would be 3-0 after that slate. If the Cowboys had the Saints’ opening slate of three playoff teams they very well could be 1-2 for all we know.
Prescott is playing in a contract year and practical wisdom would tell us that it will make him a better quarterback but he has had three years of mediocrity that have outweighed that.
Prescott is not a bad quarterback and is good enough to be the quarterback of a Super Bowl-caliber team if the team around him is elite in other places. He is not a guy that is going to beat you on his own and is a worse version of Jared Goff that can scramble.
