The New Orleans Saints are halfway through this Drew Brees injury and have impressed with a perfect 3-0 record thus far.

The New Orleans Saints have handled Drew Brees‘ torn ligament in the perfect way: by winning football games. After being knocked around in Week 2, when Brees was first hurt, the Saints have responded by winning three games in a row against talented opposition.

The first two wins were against playoff teams from a year ago in the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. What made both so impressive is that New Orleans went into Seattle to get that win and held the Cowboys to 10 points the following week.

The Buccaneers are not a playoff team but they are a team that was coming off of a 55-point showing against the Los Angeles Rams and the Saints were in control of that entire game.

We are now officially halfway through the six-week recovery time that was predicted, although it appears as if Brees is coming along faster than anticipated.

While it is intriguing to bring him back before the bye week, the Saints would be foolish to rush him back in any capacity and would be much better off saving him for the end of the season and the playoffs. Thus, we are still assuming that Brees returns after the bye week.

That gives the Saints three more games to play without Brees. And while I butchered my initial predictions, here are my updated predictions for the final three games without Brees.

Week 6: Jacksonville Jaguars 21, New Orleans Saints 20

The New Orleans Saints have to lose at least once without Drew Brees, right? This game screams loss to me for multiple reasons, all of which should scare you heading into this game.

First of all, the Saints are on the road in the hot and humid city of Jacksonville. It is set to be 88 degrees in an afternoon game on Sunday, which is going to be brutal for the Saints, who play in a dome.

So they have the road weather factor going against them but they also are playing them a week before a big game against the Chicago Bears, which we all know is called a trap game.

A trap game, on the road, against a Jacksonville team with a good defensive line, a good secondary and a quarterback that has been sweeping the nation? This will be a game that the Saints lose but really shouldn’t have.

Week 7: New Orleans Saints 24, Chicago Bears 13

The Saints are on the road again and this time it is in a completely different environment as they are playing in the Windy City. The one thing going for the Saints is that this game is at 4:25, so while it will be cold, it won’t be night-game cold.

The Chicago Bears’ defense definitely is a big challenge to overcome but the Saints are playing a team without a solid quarterback. We saw how that story went against the Dallas Cowboys and I think we will see more of the same in this one, except more points for the Saints.

This will be a textbook huge game for Alvin Kamara, who at this point will be due for one, as the Saints defeat the Bears in their home stadium by double-digits.

Week 8: New Orleans Saints 30, Arizona Cardinals 20

This game will be a fun one to watch as the Saints return home against an Arizona Cardinals team that has absolutely no business beating them.

The Saints will easily put up a 30-spot on a not-so-great Arizona defense while also limiting them for most of the game. The only reason I think this game is this close is some garbage time stats for Kyler Murray.

Next. Saints-Bucs went exactly as we predicted. dark

This gives the Saints a 5-1 record without Drew Brees and a 6-2 record heading into Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. With five NFC South games after the bye, the Saints could easily finish the year with a 13-3 record.
