3. Allen Hurns

Allen Hurns was signed by the Miami Dolphins on a one-year, $2.5 million deal after being released by the Dallas Cowboys. Miami, as we all know, are more inclined to lose games than to win them and absolutely would be open to trading Hurns for some kind of return.

More from Big Easy Believer

Hurns is a potential fit for the Saints because the Dolphins’ asking price for Hurns cannot be that large. The Dolphins are not going to get much for a receiver that they just signed, especially considering he has not been that great since returning from his concussion this season.

Hurns has just 110 receiving yards with no touchdowns in five games this season. Those numbers should not keep the Saints from trading for Hurns, as he has the athletic ability to thrive in this offense, especially with Drew Brees throwing him passes.

Hurns’ best season came in 2015 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he finished the year with 1,031 receiving yards and 10 touchdown receptions. The Saints won’t get that level out of Hurns but there is a reason to expect him to be better in the Saints’ offense.

Hurns can be the slot receiver with big-play potential. With his speed and route-running ability, Hurns could be a fantastic slot receiver in Sean Payton‘s offensive system and could be similar to the role Tyrell Williams had with the Los Angeles Chargers if you are familiar.

The best part? I only see the Saints trading, at most, a fifth-round pick for Hurns, which makes this a great value trade for the team to make.
