The New Orleans Pelicans‘ season could not have started more differently from the preseason that it has. After going a perfect 5-0 in the preseason, the Pelicans have started 0-4 in the regular season.
The Pelicans fell at home to the Golden State Warriors on Monday by 11 points. The Warriors, too, were winless through three games and were coming off of a complete dismantling by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Pelicans were not really in this game but they were the first three games of the season. This was the first true loss that the Pelicans could not have easily won if a few shots swung the other way.
The Pelicans do have a built-in excuse in the fact that Zion Williamson is out but that should not be the go-to reaction. The Pelicans have disappointed thus far and there is no way around it.
There have been some standout players to help with this disappointment but there have been some guys that have made it even harder to cope with. There is a reason why they are 0-4, after all, and it is because certain guys are not stepping up.
