Teddy Bridgewater

The last, but certainly not least, winner for the New Orleans Saints in the first half of the season is arguably the biggest winner in the entire NFL: Teddy Bridgewater. What Bridgewater has done this season is nothing short of remarkable and he is the reason why the Saints are where they are today.

More from Big Easy Believer

Bridgewater has more than justified the Saints making him the highest-paid backup quarterback in the NFL as he has looked better than most starters in the NFL this season. In an age where it is seemingly so hard to find a decent quarterback, the Saints have two quarterbacks that would probably both be Pro Bowlers if they were on separate teams.

In his five starts, Bridgewater put up a pace that would have resulted in 3,856 passing yards and 28 touchdowns over 16 games with a 67.7 completion percentage. Only eight quarterbacks in the NFL last season had 3,800 or more passing yards, 28 or more touchdowns and a completion percentage of 65 percent or better and one of them retired (Andrew Luck).

For all intents and purposes, Bridgewater has performed like a top-10 quarterback with a receiving corps that is extremely thin after Michael Thomas while also playing a game without Alvin Kamara and Jared Cook.

Bridgewater is going to get paid next season and we already broke down whether or not that will be by the Saints in the story down below.

He was a Pro Bowl quarterback that suffered an unfortunate injury and was never given his second chance. He finally got it with the Saints this season and proved that he is still that Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback.
