The New Orleans Pelicans take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday for the third time this season after losing to them on Friday.

The New Orleans Pelicans do not have to dwell on their loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday for too long as the team gets another crack at the Thunder on Sunday. This is the third time the Pelicans will play the Thunder this season.

The Pelicans are 0-2 against a Thunder team that many expected to be awful who are also exceeding expectations this season. A 7-11 record might not seem great, but they have been close in most of their games and are not the bottom of the league team, so far, that many expected.

The New Orleans Pelicans are on the other side of the coin. The Pelicans are 6-13 on the season, which is much worse than people expected heading into the season. While not many thought they would be playoff contenders as we predicted, the young roster was an easy one to get excited about.

However, they have a built-in excuse as they have been plagued with injuries. Zion Williamson still has not made his NBA debut and Derrick Favors has missed considerable time as well. That is the team’s starting four and five, creating a big size problem down near the rim.

The Pelicans have now lost four games in a row and look to avoid losing to the Thunder for the second game in a row. The Pelicans could not cover the +4 spread, losing by six points. In this game, as they are the home team, New Orleans is actually a two-point favorite, courtesy of the Action Network.

After getting it wrong last game, here is who we are going with in this one.

Against the spread prediction (Record: 6-10-1): New Orleans Pelicans -2

This has been hard for me this season. As you can tell by my record, I just cannot get a grip on what to bet on in any of these games (good thing I am not actually betting on any of them). When I have faith in the Pelicans they lose, when I have no faith in them they surprise me and win, or at least cover the spread.

For this one, I looked at the spread, got a gut feeling and this instantly went against my gut feeling. My gut is telling me that it would be absolutely insane to pick against a Thunder team that just beat the Pelicans when they are underdogs.

However, that is exactly what Vegas wants people to think and in the twisted reality that is gambling on sports, the Pelicans will end up blowing out the Thunder.

Next. Brandon Ingram has not earned a max contract yet. dark

That or the Thunder will lose by one, giving the New Orleans Pelicans the win but still handing me another L.
