Possible Candidates for Next Pelicans Coach
By Mike Delayo
Alvin Gentry
Gentry is currently enjoying a successful season as an assistant coach to Steve Kerr on the bench of the Golden State Warriors. However, he has plenty of head coaching experience under his belt.
While his stints with the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers did not bear any fruit, he found decent success with the Phoenix Suns in the late 2000s.
He did manage to make the Conference Finals in 2010, his second (and most recent) trip to the post season.
After serving under coach Mike D’Antoni (another potential candidate) as an assistant in Phoenix, Gentry used some of that high octane offense the Suns had become known for.
While it is not as intense as D’Antoni’s system, Gentry does get his team up and down at a decent pace, something Pelicans fans have been craving for Davis and the rest of the athletic Pelicans roster.
After a great season as a wingman to Steve Kerr, Gentry may want to try his luck down in New Orleans.
