LSU Football Recruiting has been on a hot streak, signing 7 major recruits over a period of less than 2 weeks.

Wait, sorry, did I just say they signed 7 recruits? Better make that 8 — they signed another of the nation’s top defensive backs while I was writing this article.

Or, in Eric Monroe’s own words:

This is huge news because it moves LSU ahead of Florida State in the current recruiting rankings.

The rankings are compiled by 24/7 Sports.com, and are compiled by a staff of 50 full time recruiting reporters and evaluators that rank and compile data on the nation’s elite high school recruits.

In the most up-to-date ranking just released, the Tigers are now ahead of the Seminoles by mere percentage points (267.47 to 264.82), with LSU having one less recruit (17) than Florida State (18).

Defending National Champion Ohio State is ranked third, followed by the Hurricanes of the University of Miami at #4 and then the next highest SEC team at #5: LSU’s major recruiting rival Alabama, and the “master recruiter” himself, Nick Saban.

In the SEC rankings, LSU is ahead of Alabama — while Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M round out the Top 5.

  • LSU’s coaching staff is an all-star cast of great recruiters, and the Eric Monroe pickup is just one of a string of major successes this week.

The Monroe announcement came just hours after three-star Killeen, Texas linebacker and NOLA native Rahssan Thornton made his verbal pledge, and just days after 4 Star Defensive end Erick Flowers also committed.

There is still a long way to go between now and national signing day, and LSU will have to fend off other schools to make sure these verbal commitments turn into written ones.

They will also have a few more recruits to bring in. Right now this is shaping up to be a very special football recruiting class, one LSU fans will remember for years to come…..
