More News On LSU’s NFL Rookie Class

With teams on the break between OTA’s and the start of training camp the NFL is in a bit of a dead calm right now.
Still, LSU’s NFL Rookie Class is always worth following, and I’ve been tracking the group to make sure Tiger fans can see how they are fitting in with their new teams.
La’el Collins is still the biggest media draw of all the Tigers taken in this years draft.

He has drawn a lot of attention in Dallas, of course, but this week he was the focus of stories in the Detroit media when news broke that the Lions were the other team he was considering before signing with Dallas.
Collins also got a taste of the celebrity rumor mill when Deadspin published a baseless hit piece on him recently after a Dallas prostitute claimed he stiffed her on her fees after, well, stiffing her in other ways.
I don’t give the story credence for a couple of reasons.
First, it came out of Deadspin which is part of the Gawker media group, arguably one of the most toxic and least ethical clickbait factories on the net. The story itself sounds silly on a number of levels.
Apparently the hooker in question didn’t ask for money or even establish the fee up front, and claims Collins then took some pretty extraordinary measures to avoid paying.
What??

La’el was able to generate some positive buzz through his own Instagram account recently. He posted a vid of himself running routes as a Wide Receiver that made the rounds of multiple sites with better reputations than Deadspin, including CBS Sports and ESPN.com.
Of course La’el Collins isn’t the only Tiger rookie being talked about in a positive way.
Sports World Report published an item about Jalen Collins being expected to come in and compete for a starting spot on the Falcons right away.
Danielle Hunter is still gaining notice in the Minneapolis media for his ideal NFL size and athleticism.

Sounds like the reporters following the Vikings are happy to have him after seeing him practice with the team a bit.
Kwon Alexander has the folks following Tampa Bay suitably impressed.
He wowed everyone in the OTA’s, and even after the player he is competing with to start at Strong Side Linebacker was named ProFootballFocus “Secret Superstar” the Bucs Nation Blog thinks Alexander’s tremendous athleticism gives him a leg up on the starting job.

Jermauria Rasco is starting to at least make media reports after not getting much attention at all in OTA’s. Bear Goggles On gave him a positive mention in their NFC North Rookie Preview.
He was also mentioned in the Acme Packing Co countdown of the Packers roster. They have him outside the top 53 for right now, hopefully they will have their eyes opened up during Packers training camp.
I will continue to follow LSU’s NFL Rookie Class and bring you any news reports I see from them as we approach the season, and of course we will look at their accomplishments on the field once the NFL season gets under way……
