LSU Players Heading To NFL Training Camps
By Scotty Nola
The first groups of rookies are heading to their first NFL training camps this week, with most vets and the rest of the rookies starting camp next week.
We’ve been following all of the LSU players in their rookie NFL season this year and will continue to keep an eye out for news on each of them for you. That news has been quiet during the break between OTA’s and camps, but with teams getting ready to report that should change quickly.
Here are the important startoff dates for each rookie Tiger’s new NFL team:
La’el Collins, Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys rookies and vets report to camp in Oxnard, CA on July 29. Their first preseason game is scheduled at San Diego on Thursday, August 13. The La’el Collins story dominated the headlines during draft weekend; and with the Cowboys line so talented, expect questions on whether he plays guard or tackle and whether he wins a starting job to be one of the major storylines during camp.
Jalen Collins, Atlanta Falcons
Rookies and Veterans report to camp at Flowery Branch, GA on July 30. The Falcons first preseason game is Friday August 14 vs. Tennessee in Atlanta.
Even some LSU fans questioned whether Jalen Collins play matched the caliber of his admittedly impressive athletic ability during his time at LSU. Here at the Big Easy Believer we pointed out that he was in an ideal situation with the cornerback needy Falcons and Coach Quinn who just came off a stint as defensive coordinator of the Legion of Boom Seattle Seahawks.
Now we’ll see if Collins is a starter or pretender for the Dirty Birds.
Danielle Hunter, Minnesota Vikings
Rookies and Veterans report to training camp in Mankato, MN on July 29. Their first preseason game is at home against Tampa Bay on Saturday, August 15.
Hunter is a freak athlete some thought underperformed at LSU. He was drafted mainly to give depth to an already very good Minnesota defensive front 7. Camp will determine how much time he will spend on the field this season.

Kwon Alexander, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rookies report to training camp in Tampa, FL on July 27, Veterans on July 31. Like his former LSU teammate Danielle Hunter Kwon Alexander is a freak athlete and has drawn raves during OTA’s.

Now it’s time to see if he can crack Tampa Bay’s starting lineup and draw raves for his performance in NFL games.
Kenny Hilliard, Houston Texans
Rookies report to training camp in Houston, TX on July 26, veterans on July 31. The Texans first preseason game is in Houston against the 49ers on Saturday, August 15.
One other date looms large for Kenny Hilliard and his new Texas teammates: August 11. That is the season debut of this years Hard Knocks.
Houston is the featured team, and as a 7th round pick Kenny Hilliard is the kind of borderline player struggling to make the 53 man roster Hard Knocks typically likes to cover.
Terrence Magee, Baltimore Ravens
Ravens rookies report to camp in Owings Mills, MD on July 22, veterans on July 29. The Ravens first preseason game is against the Saints at Baltimore on Thursday, August 13. Terrence Magee is an undrafted free agent, but may not be a long shot to make the roster. Most teams have a spot for a fast 3rd down back who can help on special teams, and Magee qualifies.
Ronald Martin, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle rookies and veterans report to camp in Renton WA on July 30. Their first preseason game is against Denver in Seattle on Friday, August 14. Martin is an undrafted free agent, but Seattle has a need for depth in the secondary and his athleticism could be enough to earn him a roster spot.

Connor Neighbors, Tennessee Titans
Titans rookies and veterans report to camp in Nashville, TN on July 30, their first preseason game is at Atlanta on Friday, August 14. Neighbors is a long shot, but the Titans released their starting FB from last year and he is in a 3 way fight for that spot.
Elliot Porter, Cleveland Browns
Browns rookies report to training camp at their facility in Berea, OH on July 22, veterans on July 29. Their first preseason game is Washington at Cleveland Thursday, August 13. Porter is an undrafted free agent, and Cleveland is very well stocked at Center with All Pro Alex Mack but he has a shot to compete for a backup spot.
Jermauria Rasco, Green Bay Packers
Packers rookies and veterans report to camp in De Pere, WI on July 29. Their first preseason game is at New England on Thursday, August 13. Another undrafted player, this on a team that is a popular pick to make this year’s Super Bowl.
Rasco has his work cut out for him. Like all LSU players the foundation of top flight coaching and arguably college footballs best strength and conditioning program give him a leg up on other athletes.
