Fournette did his usual, racking up 235 yards and 3 touchdowns on 26 carries. It wasn’t a flashy performance, with only one really long run. Fournette stayed with the power running concept and kept grinding all night. It took a while, but eventually he wore Eastern Michigan down.

Dislike: It took a big night by Fournette to beat an inferior opponent
Let’s go ahead and say it. The passing game regressed against Eastern Michigan. It regressed badly. Only 4 completions for 80 yards in the first half.

The passing game was shut down completely in the second half, generating no yards on no completions. Total goose egg.

This doesn’t tell the tale of just how bad things were in the passing game. Eastern Michigan was loading 8 and 9 men in the box to stop the run and pretty much daring Brandon Harris to try to throw the ball.

With superior athletes at receiver going up against inferior athletes on the defense in straight man schemes with no safety help LSU was not able to complete a single second half pass.

That is appalling.
