One of the biggest issues of last years disappointing defense was the failure of the defensive line to create much pass rush. The sacks were just not there, a factor that held the Tigers Defense back all year.

Tigers fans were hoping for change, and if you asked where the production would come from most of them would likely have told you from Arden Key or Davon Godchaux.

Key was a highly touted recruit with major pass rushing skills, and Godchaux a preseason All SEC mention with NFL talent.

Most Tigers fans were probably not expecting as much from returning veterans Tashawn Bower and Lewis Neal. Both played well last year against the run but did not show a lot of pass rush potential.

What a world of difference seven games makes. Lewis Neal has seven sacks, enough for third in the SEC despite the cancellation of the McNeese St. game.

The emergence of Neal as a major pass rushing threat has been a pleasant surprise for Tiger fans this season.
